Ceramic Competition Winners Category A:
Tipografias Rebeldes
1st Prize

Subject: TIPOGRAFIAS REBELDES
Designer: Naiara Illanes Calpe
Center: Universidad Internacional de Cataluña

The prize was awarded for illanes´ effective interpretation of the language of tipography adapted to an original format and how she had also depicted the interaction between the user and the ceramic product in a creative manner.

Avant i Arrere

Subject: AVANT I ARRERE
Designer: Isabel Herrero Castellote
Center: UCH-CEU de Valencia

The prize was awarded for how Herrero had devised new uses for ceramic tiles and reproduceda traffic light on a horizontal ceramic space, subtly yet decisively suggesting a fresh trend.

Designer: Luis Bernal Aguilar
Center: Escola D'Art del Treball del Ajuntament de Barcelona

The design was commended for its treatment of ceramic and the symbiosis he posits between ceramic and nature - an alternative, attractive and synchronous ageing.




  
Ceramic Competition Winners Category B: 
1st Prize 

Subject: GAMUSINO
Designer: Gonzalo Herrero Delicado, Mª Angeles Peñalver Izaguirre y Luis Navarro Jover
Center: Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Alicante

The design won the prize for the way it interprets ceramic as a support for and ecosystem, a unique interpretation of the essence of ceramic, using earth and the energy used in the firing process as materials. The other winning feature was the fact that this tile can be used as an element that is decorative day and night, so integrates into nature.

Center: ESAD de Caldas da Rainha de Portugal

The prize was awarded for the design´s fresh interpretation of Mediterranean culture, re-defining the traditional lattice screen, giving it an innovative use and creating new applications.

Subject: SONORAMA
Designer: Gonzalo Herrero Delicado y Javier Esquiva López (ESAUA) y Rubén Ripoll (ESAUPV)
Center: Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Alicante y Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de UPV

The design was commended because it creates and applies a function that adds new qualities to ceramic tile, with every detail explained and creating a true need for the product.
